This week, the Biden Administration made history by tapping Dr. Rachel Levine as the head of the US Public Health Service’s Commissioned Corps. Levine is a transgender woman; the job comes with a uniform, four stars, and a somewhat unexpected title: Admiral. The appointment makes her the first woman to lead a uniformed service branch, and confirms her place as a LGBTQ pathbreaker.

Americans Want To Watch Prices Go Down, Not Biden On CNN

President Joe Biden joined Anderson Cooper on CNN for another one of those gimmicky town halls on Thursday night, and it turns out only a few people watched.
The Biden town hall reportedly drew only 1.2 million viewers, with a meager 271,000 in the key 25 to 54-year-old advertisement demographic — so I guess it was more than a few, but not many more. For comparison, an average 2.83 million people watched Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity on Fox News during the same time slot, more than double the president’s audience. MSNBC’s 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows drew an average of 1.39 million.

On Thursday, October 21, the Democratic lawmaker took to Twitter with an audio clip of a Trump supporter attacking him for his remarks praising the U.S. Capitol Police officer who killed Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt.

Why Merrick Garland Can’t Win

The fundamental fallacy at the heart of the four-year-long legal resistance to Trumpism was that the American people desperately wanted to be bored again. The electric rock star status achieved by Robert Mueller for his investigation into Donald Trump’s election interference and obstruction of justice was rooted in the ironic delight we took in the special counsel’s obvious stodginess and ploddingness.

Republicans retool their conspiracy theory for the mainstream

On Wednesday, Republicans once again stood in unity on an issue for which there is fierce agreement across their party: Voting should be hard as hell — at least for Americans who live in cities and/or aren’t white. Senate Democrats had brought forth a new version of a voting rights bill, watered down by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin on the asinine theory that it might attract Republican votes, but no dice. All 50 Republicans in the Senate voted to filibuster the bill, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., claiming it has a “rotten core.
